The Alan Parson Project

After learning about Alan Parsons in yesterday’s post about “Dark Side of the Moon”, I was happy to find an Alan Parsons album in my Dad’s collection. It is a greatest hits collection released in 1983 called “Best of The Alan Parsons Project”. It contains a number of cool radio-friendly and electronic psychedelic songs.

I learned from reading the album sleeve that Alan Parsons was so blown away by hearing The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band in 1967, that he applied for and landed a job at Abbey Road Studios in London. Parsons worked with The Beatles on the Abbey Road album and continued to work with McCartney and later with Pink Floyd.

I find it really cool to know that Alan Parsons now lives in my hometown (Santa Barbara, CA) and that the amazing guitarist Alastair Greene now plays in his band, The Alan Parsons Live Project. You can find Alastair’s own music here: http://agsongs.com/. Although Alastair’s newest release “Through The Rain” may not be on vinyl, it is has become one of my favorite albums this year.
